Mai Taniyama is normal high school student with a knack for telling ghosts stories, and a passion for horror. But little did she know that her favorite after school pastime would soon get her mixed up in the world of poltergeists and spirits. When Mai meets narcissistic "Ghost Hunter" supreme: Kazuya Shibuya. He’s so full of himself that she even gives him the nickname, “Naru” short for narcissist! And thanks to her curiosity, she soon discovers the very real horrors that inspire her favorite pastime.
Now working part time for the 17 year old's company; Shibuya Psychic research (SPR for short), Mai has experienced all kinds of Phenomena, as well as met many capable and interesting people who now work along side her. Ayako Matsuzaki: A self-claimed shinto shrine maiden, Hoshou Takigawa: An Ex-monk from Kyouya Mountain, John Brown: A young catholic priest, Masako Hara: A famous television Medium, Lin Koujo: Naru’s stoic assistant, and recently, Osamu Yasuhara: A former client with superb information gathering skills.
The mystery that surrounds Naru and his psychic research firm all comes together in what Mai fears will be her and her friends last Ghost Hunt together. When Naru’s true motives for founding SPR become clear, still more questions arise as the journey of these intrepid ghost hunters comes full circle in the final arc of Fuyumi Ono and Shiho Inada’s series, “The Forgotten Children.”
